865 East
Harrisonburg, Virginia, one of the fastest growing communities in the Mid-Atlantic Region, is home to James Madison University, an ever-expanding university. With growth comes challenges.
There is a shortage of land on which to build in Harrisonburg, and security concerns in student housing developments have received considerable attention locally and nationally. The time was right for a new approach.
Located within easy walking and biking distance of the JMU campus, 865 East, which opened in August, 2009, is the logical answer to these concerns. As the first high-rise mixed use facility of its kind in Harrisonburg, 865 East is one of the most recent "high profile" assignments undertaken by Kenneth Patterson, principal in Patterson Consulting, LLC. The public followed every phase of the job with interest as this seven story, state-of-the art facility came to life. In just 14 months this project moved from 5 acres of grass and rock to a complete and occupied building.
865 East features the most sophisticated sprinkler and security systems of any residential facility in the area. Amenities such as first floor restaurants and shops, roof top entertainment deck, computer lab, game room, exercise and bike storage room make it Harrisonburg's safest and most popular student housing address.
New Market Library

When the New Market Area Library in New Market, Virginia, needed a new building, they determined as a learning facility, it was necessary to set an example in conservation. The Library Board wanted a building that was energy efficient and "green friendly". Because of experience with LEED certified projects, Patterson Consulting, LLC brought together the LEED certified architect and the contractor to design and build this beautiful new facility which opened to the public in 2009.
